Throop Beat 1 is a stretch of the Dorset Stour running from Throop top boundary to New Weir, controlled by Ringwood & District Anglers Association. Day tickets are available, so you do not need to be a member to fish here. Species include chub, roach, bream, barbel, pike, eel, dace and carp. Night fishing is permitted.

RDAA annual membership; current prices on ringwoodfishing.co.uk. Members require a Throop Game Ticket to fish Throop for trout, sea trout and salmon in season, available as a membership add-on or as a day ticket. No entry to Throop from 15 March to 15 June without this ticket. Coarse season 16 June – 14 March.

DAY TICKET PRICES (2026): Day ticket £14 standard, £10 for OAPs, disabled anglers and juniors — both 2 rods, full day. One-week ticket £80 standard, £60 concession, 2 rods. Day tickets CANNOT be used during the closed season. Order online at carp.ringwoodfishing.co.uk/day-tickets.html or buy from local tackle dealers. Day tickets are available ONLY for Throop Fishery and the Lower Stour — no other RDAA river venue. A KEY is required to access Throop, collected before your visit from Ringwood Tackle, Bournemouth Fishing Lodge, Christchurch Angling Centre or 914.

Night Fishing

Fishing times sunrise to 2 hours after sunset, or Beat 2's time if later. 24 hour fishing on this beat with a night permit, members only. No bivvies; maximum time in the same swim 24 hours.

Throop Fisheries, Throop Road, Bournemouth BH8 0DN. Off-road parking at Throop Mill and parking areas off local side roads; full details are printed on the day ticket. DIRECTIONS (Beats 1 & 2, Throop Mill via Castle Lane West): from Ringwood take the A31 to Ashley Heath roundabout, left onto the A338 Bournemouth Spur Road to the Cooper Dean roundabout, then the A3060 Castle Lane West; 150m on the right is Ibbertson Road — turn right, follow into Throop Road and continue about a mile. Parking is on the right just past Throop Mill.
