Find Your Next Stretch
Rod and Bank is a free, verified directory of river fishing stretches across the UK. Every stretch. Every permit. Every detail. Starting with the Thames.
We built rod and bank because we needed it ourselves
Finding accurate information about river fishing in England has always been harder than it should be.
Which stretches are free? Which need a club membership? Where do you buy a day ticket?
We got tired of the searching. So we went directly to the clubs, controllers, and tackle shops who manage the water, gathered the information at source, and built the place we always wished existed.

Our mission is simple: Map every fishable river in the UK
We are starting with the Thames. Every stretch mapped, every permit verified, every access point confirmed. More rivers are coming soon.

Got a question?
Everything you need to know about Rod and Bank, how it works, and how to get the most out of it.
Yes, completely. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and no paywalls. Every piece of information on Rod and Bank is free to access. We believe finding out how to fish a river should never cost you anything.
Where information has been verified directly with the club or controller that manages a stretch, it is clearly marked as verified. Where we have not yet been able to confirm something directly, we flag it as unverified and tell you where we sourced it. You always know how confident to be in what you are reading.
Yes. A rod licence from the Environment Agency is required to fish in England regardless of which stretch you choose or what permit you hold for that stretch. You can buy one at gov.uk. Rod and Bank provides information about stretch-specific access on top of that.
We started with the Thames because we know it best and wanted to do one river properly before expanding. We have mapped every stretch from Ashton Keynes to Teddington, verified directly with clubs and controllers. More rivers are coming. If there is a river you want to see listed, let us know.
We have been building the directory by speaking directly to clubs, controllers, and tackle shops across the Thames, as well as researching publicly available information. If your listing is marked as unverified it means we have not yet been able to confirm the details with you directly. We would love to change that.
Yes, currently it is completely free. If your club, stretch, or shop is on the Thames we have likely already listed you using publicly available information. We are building a way for organisations to manage and verify their own listings directly. If you want to get ahead of that, get in touch and we will make sure your information is accurate.
We are currently building the tools for clubs, controllers, and tackle shops to manage their own listings on Rod and Bank. If you want to update or correct your information in the meantime, just get in touch via our contact page and we will sort it manually. We respond to every message personally.
Right now, anglers are searching online for information about your stretch. They are trawling Facebook groups, digging through old forum threads, and calling numbers that may or may not be current. Some of them give up. Some of them turn up without the right permit. Rod and Bank is where those anglers end up instead. Accurate information about your water, in the place they are already looking.
