The Ashes is a stretch of the River Tees on the 130-acre estate at Low Dinsdale where The Ashes holiday house stands, controlled by Middlesbrough Angling Club and The Ashes Low Dinsdale. Club members fish it, and guests staying at the house may fish free by arrangement with the owner. Species are likely to include barbel, chub, dace, roach, perch, grayling, brown trout and salmon (taken from the neighbouring water). Night fishing is not permitted.

2026 Middlesbrough Angling Club membership: adult £50, OAP and disabled £25, youth 14 to 17 £10, junior under 14 £5, non-fishing guardian £10; new adults pay an entrance fee of half the full fee (OAP and disabled £10). The 2026 allocation is full and new applicants go on a waiting list.

Day Ticket £

No public day tickets. Middlesbrough AC members only (club rule 9). Guests staying at The Ashes holiday house may fish free of charge by arrangement with the owner (holidaycottages.net listing; weekly rental from £485).

Night Fishing

Not permitted for Middlesbrough AC members (club rule 15), and the access gate off Neasham Hill is locked from 7pm to 7am. Nothing published for house guests; assume no night fishing.

Middlesbrough AC members: through the gated road off Neasham Hill, parking at the end of the track past The Ashes Lodge; no members on the land between 7pm and 7am (club news, 2023). House guests park at the house.
