Great Western Main Line railway bridge

Sutton Benger is a stretch of the Bristol Avon running from the 'start of Isis water' marker above the Top Weir to the Great Western Main Line railway bridge, controlled by Swindon Isis Angling Club. Fishing is for club members. Species include bream, tench, barbel, roach, pike and chub. Night fishing is not permitted.

Season Ticket £

2026-27 (prices unchanged; membership year 1 Apr – 31 Mar; river close season applies): Senior day only £55; Senior day and night £120; OAP/Disabled/Student day only £35, day and night £70; Juniors (up to 16) free (must be accompanied by an adult member). Half-season from 1 Nov: Senior day £35, OAP day £25, Senior day and night £70, OAP day and night £50. A key (£5 from Tackle Den) is needed to reach the waters; photo must be in the book.

Day Ticket £

No public day tickets. Committee members may issue £5/day 'honorary membership' guest tickets to members' guests only (member must accompany; obtained before fishing, not on the bank).

Night Fishing

Club rule 13: 'No one to be on the River bank after dark, for any reason' — the 'day and night' book applies to the lakes; no night fishing on the river.

Parking Information

Access lane runs east from Sutton Lane (south of Sutton Benger, beside the large poultry sheds) to the river; parking areas are marked by the river at the Top Weir. In the summer months members may drive along the bank and park behind the pegs (club map). Key required (sold with the membership book).
