A Society-owned stretch of the upper Severn at Pool Quay, Welshpool, wholly right-bank, about 1.5 miles long, with abundant bankside cover of trees and vegetation. The river averages 15–20 yards wide, 2–10ft deep at normal levels, with shallow weedy gravel areas running into deeper, steadier runs and holes. Much of the bank is high and overgrown, typical of the Severn here, making the river's edge difficult to reach in places — extreme care needed, especially in wet weather — though there are plenty of more accessible swims along the length. Coarse fish grow to a good size but can be hard to locate, as can the grayling and wild brown trout present. Minnows can make summer maggot fishing impossible.
