A PAAS water on the River Severn and Cound Brook at Cressage, a short way below the downstream limit of the Attingham Estate water. The Severn here is 30–40 yards wide, a full river with weed beds, gravel shallows and some deeper water; good bank cover with overhanging trees, somewhat overgrown but with cut swims. Current is brisk at the top and bottom of the stretch, slower and deeper mid-length. The Cound Brook is a serious small tributary, 5 yards wide, 2–3ft deep, steady-flowing, tree-lined, with little weed — a useful spot when the main river's up. Directly opposite the Raby Estate water on the other bank. Exceptional for barbel, also a good chub water; both rivers are mostly too overgrown for fly fishing, though possible by wading round the island at the top end.

Junior (under 16): £25/yr, no joining fee, no waiting list. Non-angling adult: £15/yr. Membership runs Jan–Dec. Mixed Game and Coarse water.

Night Fishing
Night fishing allowed, but strict rules apply — no access between one hour after sunset and 7am, and anglers may not leave the water after one hour after sunset regardless of whether they intend to fish overnight (leave at dusk or stay all night, no compromise). Maximum stay of 72 hours on the water at any one time.

A458 from Shrewsbury, past Cressage — a mile short of the town, a narrow by-road runs either side of the main road (south to Cound Cottage, north to the river), marked by red brick posts. The north lane forks a short distance in — right fork is a private house, No Entry; left fork, marked by red reflectors, leads to the car park 400 yards on the right (room for 6–7 sensibly parked cars). Footpath leads to a stile and the downstream limit. Private land to the right of the path and the approach to the private house must not be entered. From Telford: A442/A5223 to A4169 to Much Wenlock, then A458 to Cound.
