Bull and Steart is a stretch of the Dorset Stour running from Sturminster Newton road bridge to Little Ham, controlled by Sturminster and Hinton Angling Association. Day tickets are available, so you do not need to be a member to fish here. Species include roach, bream, rudd, perch, dace, chub, pike and tench. Night fishing is not permitted.

S&HAA annual membership: Adult £50, Concession (65+) £30, Junior (under 18) £10. Join or renew online via the club's Clubmate site. River season closed 15 March – 15 June inclusive.

Day Ticket £

Day tickets from £5.00 and week tickets £15.00, covering all S&HAA River Stour waters. Buy online via the club's Clubmate site before fishing.

Night Fishing

Fishing is allowed from sunrise to one hour after sunset on the River Stour — NO NIGHT FISHING. River season closed 15 March to 15 June inclusive.

Parking Information

Opposite the Bull Inn on the A357 — DO NOT use the pub's own car park. If the small car park is full, use the larger car park at Sturminster Mill. Travelling from the south on the A357 towards Sturminster Newton, the small car park is on the right shortly before the traffic lights near the bridge into town. Ham can be accessed via limited parking on Penny Lane in Sturminster; for more reliable parking use the public car park. Coach Rd roadside parking is informal and limited — a town car park is the better option. Sat nav DT10 2BS.
