Brockholes and Red Scar Wood

PAAS car park on the right off the farm track to Lower Brockholes Farm, immediately past Halfpenny Bridge on the A59 from the M6 Exit 31 - room for about 20 cars; park close to the stile. A PAAS KEY IS REQUIRED and a PAAS STICKER must be prominently displayed. If traffic is fast and heavy coming from Preston down Brockholes Brow, continue uphill on the A59 for a mile to the next roundabout and return on the opposite carriageway. SECOND CAR PARK for the water above the M6 viaduct: from the dual carriageway between the two roundabouts at M6 Exit 31 (accessible only travelling Preston towards Blackburn), take the lane signposted Brockholes (brown sign) just before the traffic lights, follow signs for Brockholes Wildlife Centre, over the river, sharp left to a T junction at the river edge, turn left, and immediately past the motorway bridge there is a barrier on the left with a COMBINATION LOCK. Park inside the barrier chevron-style so others can pass, leaving a clear route through the second gate - be prepared to reverse in or out, as there is no access past the barrier.
