Brimpton Road bridge over the river

Brimpton is a stretch of the River Kennet running from top of the Aldershot stream where it meets the canal to Brimpton Road bridge over the river, controlled by Newbury Angling Association. Fishing is for club members only. Species include dace, brown trout, chub, roach, perch and barbel. Night fishing is permitted.

Season Ticket £

Newbury AA 2026-27 membership (season 16 June to 15 June): Senior £95; Junior 12-16 £10; Junior under 12 free; Pensioner or Disabled (concessionary rod licence) £60; Pensioner 76 and over £25; optional 2-rod (specimen) permit £50; venue key £10 (replacement £30); optional membership card £6. Half-season tickets at 50% from 1 December (plus £20 entry charge).

Day Ticket £

No day tickets. Full members may bring one guest per day on a guest ticket: £10 for 12 hours or £15 for 24 hours, from Thatcham Angling (Sagecroft Road, Thatcham) or the Clubmate app. The member must accompany the guest.

Night Fishing

No river-specific night rule published. NAA guest tickets run up to 24 hours, bivvies are allowed for angling, and 16-17 year olds may night fish with written parental consent. Coarse close season applies on all NAA rivers (16 June to 14 March).

Small gated car park at the bottom end, about 400 yards south of the railway bridge near the bridge over a stream (take care pulling out). Or roadside parking on Brimpton Road south of the canal bridge, with an unlocked gate across the field to the river.
